This site does not have information on using STs or PCs to emulate the A8 computer hardware. Follow links to sites that do.
Here is a FAQ that answers a lot of questions(booting, compatability, models).
Here is a FAQ that can help fix problems(won't turn on, stay in self test, keyboard troubles).

800XL/1200XL to 1 Meg(NEWLL, 8 Dram):is HERE. (23Aug02)
Here is a copy of the instructions for installing the Wes Newell 1 Meg memory upgrade. Also a later fix he added for replacing the boot switch for the diagnostic rom-works with XL and XE, 1 meg upgrades.

65XE:
Memory Upgrades:
This computer is very similar to an 800XL.
A Scott Peterson reprint coming soon.

130XE:
Memory Upgrades:
130XE to 320K:is (8 Dram version):HERE. This is the reprint from Text for this from Windhover Newsletter 1985(aka Peterson upgrade(date?)). Updated(Mar06) drawing by me is ...HERE. Note that many OCRed versions have errors.

130XE to 320K(2 Dram version):Uses the same basic instructions as the 8 Dram version, but the 4 bit 256K chips have an entirely different pinout, not just drop in. So I did a PCB to make this easy. If the high bank 2 Drams are socketed, then just 4 wires to solder. Instructions. Wiring. Installed.

130 XE to 1 Meg (SIMM):is HERE. (22Oct01 REW/MISC)
Here is a reprint from SLCC-Bob Wooleys info on upgrading to 1 meg using a 30 pin SIMM. Includes a simm pinout. Or you can DL SIMM UPGRADE.ZIP (528K) for this webpage with high res pics.

XEGS:
Memory Upgrades:
An RLD Modified version of a Scott Peterson reprint is being investigated. So far, looks more like an 800XL in memory, so its more complex, but still 2 drams to replace.
